Inscribe the Word . . . January Scripture Writing Plan

Welcome to 2022, Friends.
It is another beautiful year to Inscribe the Word together.

I began Inscribe the Word Scripture Writing Plans in 2016, and every year, I am in awe of how God uses these plans to bring hundreds of thousands of people to Scripture. I am humbled and honored to bring this resource to you.

This year, our theme is The Spiritual Disciplines. By placing daily spiritual rhythms in our lives, my husband and I have decided to rebuild our lives around our apprenticeship to Jesus. You can read more about that HERE.

Each month in 2022, we will focus on a new spiritual discipline. I will also be including some books and resources to help you put that discipline into practice in your everyday lives.

My prayer is that you see these not as legalistic rules but as ways to Abide in the Vine each and every day. (John 15:1-8)

Please note that we will not be doing separate Inscribe the Word plans for kids in 2022.

What is Sabbath Rest?

STOP.

On Sabbath, we stop all work paid & unpaid. We embrace our limits & let go of the illusion that we are running the world. We rest, in trust, knowing that God is on the throne & He is the source of all we have. He rules the world & does just fine without our help.

REST.

On Sabbath, we accept God’s invitation to rest. We engage in activities that restore and replenish us — from napping, gardening, reading, and eating good food to enjoying hobbies.

DELIGHT.

On Sabbath, we delight in Creation with all of our senses. This is different for everyone. For me, it is time in nature, a coffee in a bookstore or a meal with family & friends. We delight with God in His creation & the beautiful gifts He gives.

WORSHIP.

On Sabbath, we worship. The Sabbath is a day that is holy to the Lord. We don’t take time off from God, but we draw near to Him in worship, prayer, Scripture, contemplation, and seeing His beauty in all things.

Books and Resources on Sabbath.

As you Inscribe Sabbath Rest, my prayer is that you come to see a day to stop, worship, delight, and rest restores our soul and invites us into the rest Jesus offers.

Share the plans at the links below and start Scripture Writing with your family and friends!

Please Note: We will be discontinuing our ITW Kids plans. The kids plans are exactly the same as the adult plans. The only difference is we chose one or two verses for them to Inscribe. Our hope is that families will Inscribe the Word together taking the time to talk through each passage. With this in mind, we believe it is best for parents and guardians to choose which verse(s) your child writes as you know best what they are capable of writing. Thank you for understanding.
