What we believe

SCRIPTURE

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings; the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)

GOD

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, referred to as The Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He created all things, and through Him, all things are held together. Our God has always been and always will be. (Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

JESUS

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is true God and true man, and He died on the cross as a sacrifice for sins, according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High. He is now our High Priest and Advocate with the Father, and He sits at the right hand of God. (John 1:1;  I Corinthians 15: 3, 4)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service. He is the third person of the Trinity and is our counselor, comforter, and keeper equipping us for ministry and life. (Genesis 1:2, Acts 1:8, John 15:26; John 16:8, Ephesians 1:13-14)

SALVATION

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin, and is therefore lost. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become believers. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith and now can live our lives to share the Gospel with a lost world through words and actions.  (John 3:3, John 1:12, John 3:16)

BAPTISM

After salvation, we believe that water baptism for the believer and the Lord’s Supper for the believer (Communion) are ordinances to be observed by the church during this present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as the means of salvation, but as a symbol of our own death, burial, and resurrection with Jesus. (Romans 3:23, Romans 10:9, Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23-26)

THE CHURCH

We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been born anew by the Holy Spirit, and are united together in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The church is not a place, but a body of believers. (I Corinthians 12:12-14, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 5:1-5)

MARRIAGE

We believe marriage is an exclusive union between one man and one woman in which believers are called to love one another, encourage one another and serve one another per the example of Jesus Christ and under His authority. Marriage is more than a civil contract and establishes a covenant relationship that is united by God and illustrative of Christ’s relationship with his church. (Gen. 1:27, 2:24; Matt. 19:4-6; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Eph. 5:31-32; 1 Tim. 1:8-10)
