The INSCRIBE THE WORD Scripture Writing plan has been such a wonderful way for me to study God’s Word. I am receiving testimonials each week from women and families using the plans to dig deeper into The Word.

Scripture Writing is the simple study of hand copying Scripture word for word into a notebook or journal. When I simply read the Scriptures, my mind wanders. I begin thinking about my daily chores or a myriad of other things.

With Scripture writing, I am so focused on each word I am writing. I am focused on keeping my journal neat and artistic as I journal God's Word. It gives me ten to fifteen minutes of uninterrupted Bible Study where The Lord can speak to my heart.

Each month, we have a theme for our Inscribe the Word plans. This month, our theme is GOD'S AMAZING GRACE.

What is INSCRIBE THE WORD?

Scripture writing has become a key way that I study the Word of God. You can read more about the purpose behind INSCRIBE THE WORD here.

The word INSCRIBE means, "write or carve (words or symbols) on something, especially as a formal or permanent record."

Let us not just write the words in our journals to put on the shelf. I pray that we don't make this Bible Study just a ritual or burdensome "to-do". I want to CARVE THE WORD on my heart. I want it to permanently change who I am. I want it to be a permanent reminder of who God is and what He has done.

I want my heart to be like God's personal journal, where He can Inscribe His words to me making them permanent with each stroke of His pen. If He can write my name on the palms of His hands, then I want Him to write His words on my heart. (Isaiah 49:16)

What would we do without the grace of God?

Grace, according to the dictionary, is the unmerited favor of God toward mankind. The word “grace” is used over 170 times in the New Testament alone. Grace is a free gift from our God to His creation. It cannot be bought. It cannot be earned. Grace is freely ours.

What you need to start Inscribing The Word.

If this is your first time Scripture Writing, you need a few simple things. Your Bible, A Journal, and a pen. I love making my pages artistic, so I generally have a few different markers, gel pens, colored pencils, and colored pens available. Have fun and be creative if you wish.

So many Bibles! Which one?

There are so many types of Bibles out there, you may not know where to start. I generally use the King James or New King James Version. I also really like the New Living Translation. If you are looking for a journaling/coloring Bible, I definitely recommend the INSPIRE BIBLE. It is beautiful, and has plenty of space to journal and be creative. You can read a review of that Bible here

If you are looking for a Study Bible, my go-to is the Life Application Bible by Tyndale House. It has so many study tools that bring you deeper into the Word. I love this Bible!

This month, as we study God's Amazing Grace, I pray that your life is filled with His unmerited favor. No matter what you've done, you are covered in God's Grace. No matter who you used to be before Him, you are covered in God's Grace. May you embrace that Amazing Grace as we Inscribe the Word together this month.
