Last month, as the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic swept the globe, we studied THE OMNIPRESENT GOD. Only the Holy Spirit could move like He did in March. As we were inundated with COVID-19, fearful news reports, sickness, and uncertainty we needed to know that our God is with us and He will never leave or forsake us.
As we begin this April 2020 study, our world is still dealing with this widespread pandemic, the fear of uncertainty and the anxiety of transition are upon us. We do not know what the future holds or if our lives will return to the normal we once knew. But we do know an OMNISICENT God who knows all things and sees all things.
This month, we will explore God’s Omniscience through the Bible and see that He alone knows all things. Omni- originates in Latin and means “all” and Scientia which means “knowledge”. “The omniscience of God means that He has perfect knowledge, perfect understanding, and perfect wisdom as to how to apply the knowledge.” - Don Stewart
WHAT Omniscience IS:
If you study a list of God's attributes, you will often see "Omniscient" on that list. God's omniscience is the fact that He knows everything past, present, and future.
A.W. Tozer describes God's Omniscience like this . . .
God knows instantly and effortlessly . . .
all matter and all matters
all spirit and all spirits,
all being and every being,
all creaturehood and all creatures,
every pluarilty and all pluralities,
all law and every law,
all relations,
all causes,
all thoughts,
all mysteries,
all enigmas,
all feeling,
all desires,
every unuttered secret,
all thrones and dominions,
all personalities,
all things visible and invisible in heaven and earth, motion, space, time, death, good, evil, heaven, and hell.God knows all things perfectly.
He is never surprised.
As we grow in our understanding of the Character of God, we see that He is not only eternal, all-powerful, and with us always, but He knows all and sees all and our days are in His hands.
As I am writing this post, we are in trying times as we deal with a new normal surrounding The Pandemic of Covid-19. I am believing and praying that this will be over soon, hearts would heal, bodies would heal, and minds would heal.
Everything that can be shaken is being shaken so that everything that can’t be shaken will remain. But let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe. (Hebrews 12:28)
We serve a God who knows what we are going through, who sees the seasons and knows us by name. Let us rest in Him, rest in His Word, and live with the knowledge that He is El Roi . . . the God who sees. He is the God who holds our past, present, and future and we will overcome.
