Inscribe the Word - January Scripture Writing Plan
Welcome to 2019, My Friends! Are you ready to Inscribe the Word with us this year?
It is going to be a year of growth, encouragement, renewal, and hope. GET READY!
We started to Inscribe the Word in 2016, and since that time hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children all over the world are getting closer to Jesus and learning more about His Word through these simple plans. We are so incredibly blessed.
We have compiled a list of all of our Inscribe the Word plans from past years into one ULTIMATE INSCRIBE THE WORD List. We hope it gives you quick access to all of our previous plans. There are a lot of them!
WHAT IS IN STORE FOR 2019?
This year we began a new series here at A Symphony of Praise called “READ THE BIBLE IN A YEAR.” This plan is a minimalistic, simple, and efficient way to read the Bible in a year. As I was praying about the direction for Inscribe the Word in 2019, I felt in my heart to go along with the reading plan as we WRITE THE BIBLE in a year. Now before you abandon ship - No, we aren’t writing the entire Bible (although that is a dream of mine to accomplish!). We are taking gleanings out of the Scriptures and writing parts of the chapters.
The word gleaning means to collect gradually bit by bit. We are going to collect some of the key treasures out of the entire collection of sixty-six books of the Bible. It is going to be thrilling and exciting, and I cannot wait to start writing (and reading) the Word with you this year.
DO I HAVE TO READ THE BIBLE IN A YEAR?
You absolutely do not have to read the Bible in a year to be a part of this year's Inscribe the Word. If you choose to, great. If not, we are so glad that you are writing the great nuggets of Scripture with us as we dive into each book of the Bible.
I’m new. WHERE DO I BEGIN?
If you have never done a Scripture Writing or Inscribe the Word plan, don’t worry. It is so simple. The idea is to write the Scripture. As you write, the words come alive on the page, and you truly focus on the meaning, context, and entirety of the Scripture.
WHAT DO I NEED?
A Bible. A Notebook. A Pen. In reality, that is all you need to Inscribe the Word.
You can grab some stickers, colorful pens, highlighters, whatever you’d like to make your writing meaningful to you. However, you want to Inscribe the Word is up to you.
WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS?
In the past, we have included simplified plans for the kiddos. This year, however, we will not add a downloadable version for the kids. If you are a parent, our desire is for you to do these plans with your children; talking about the reading and writing of the day together. This year we are placing the responsibility on our parents to read the verse and choose what the best verse for their child is.
As we Inscribe this year, we may get to passages of Scripture that are not appropriate for children - maturity wise. However, some parents may want to include more mature content in their child’s daily writing. I can’t determine what is best for your child, so as you Inscribe the word, jot down or highlight a verse for your child to write with you.
My son and I do our Scripture Writing together in the morning, and it is a beautiful start to the day and gets him talking about the Word. I pick a verse that is appropriate for him based on what he can handle, and we go from there.
ARE YOU READY?
My Friend, you are about to embark on the most magnificent journey of your life. You are about to get into the Word of God like never before. The Symphony of your life is about to become in tune with The Chief Musician. You are about to grow.
Get ready for a wonderful 2019 as we READ THE WORD and INSCRIBE THE WORD together.
GLEANINGS FROM GENESIS & EXODUS
This January, we start with the first two books of the Bible. The Beginning of the Word. This is where we are starting in 2019.
The first five books of the Bible are called The Pentateuch, and most scholars say the majority of these five books were written by Moses. Join us as we walk with Adam and Eve, as we build with Noah, and see the faithfulness and failures of Abraham. You will discover Jacob, and why God would choose such a deceptive man to be a part of His Son’s lineage. As we Inscribe the Word this month, you will discover the birth of the Israelite nation, and how they became the people of God. We will see their enslavement and freedom by the hand of Moses and the guidance of the King of the world.
